sometimes the ticks are blue. sometimes they are grey. i don’t know which one is worse. knowing that you read my text and chose to ignore me or knowing that i’m not worth your time glancing through my sentences. blue used to be my favourite colour, but you made me question myself.

are we not friends? we know each other well. i don’t doubt it. we share many memories, interests, and friends — especially friends — together. a venn diagram of our circle of friends would look like a cell barely splitting. the number of group chats we are in together is too much — and yet too little. i love the inside jokes we have within the inside jokes. i love how we have two ongoing conversations in public and in private. i love all my chats with you, with or without others in it.

i’m not asking for a lot. all i want is a text. just a reply from you.

text me when you’re sad. text me when you’re happy. text me when something happened. text me when nothing happened. i want to be the first person you text, but if i’m not, text me anyway. i want to be there for you. i want to hear you.

all i want is a text from you. please text me.
