truth

truth is the name our toe tags spelled,
the reward that we never asked for coming to this world.

truth is the praises that people poured
as our instincts rolled, crawled, walked, and talked.

truth is the jeers and insults hurled at us
for failing the past generations’ unmet expectations.

truth is the comments on our transcripts and diplomas,
judgments made by judgemental judged judges.

truth is the yearly reviews of life-long jobs
for underperforming the unwritten set of contracts.

truth is the eulogy spoken and epitaph written,
the broken world’s way of labeling us.

I enjoy walking around, getting lost in more ways than one, and writing about it.
